My Story
When I was 23, I started to have multiple unexplainable health issues. Migraines were the worst of it along with fatigue and brain fog. The migraines were so debilitating, it was hard to go to work, spend time with my loved ones, and do anything I enjoyed. It took about 2 years of seeing many doctors and having no answers for the cause of my issues. Finally, after talking with the women in my family, I realized that they had experienced the same symptoms. The common denominator (outside of genetics) was birth control medication...otherwise known as "the pill". When they stopped taking the pill, their migraines also stopped.

After my own research and confirming with a new OBGYN, I discovered that the hormones in the pill were working well to prevent pregnancy, but they also cause migraines after prolonged use for certain individuals. I had been taking the pill since I was 17. Of course I was probably told of the side effects at first, but do 17 year-olds really care? I didn't at the time. After 8 years though, I definitely cared.
This started my journey to stop the pill and regulate my hormones and menstrual cycle naturally. I dove into learning more about holistic health: Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, and Yoga. I managed my stress through meditation and become a yoga instructor. I saw a chiropractor regularly to improve the function of my nervous and endocrine systems. I cut out toxins that I put in my body (poor quality food, alcohol) and on my body (skincare).
After 6 months of consistency, my cycle became regular and my migraines had diminished. SUCCESS! Ever since, I have kept up with my lifestyle changes and continue to have regular cycles. The migraines come back every once in awhile if I stray away from my healthy habits, but they stop once I'm back on track.

Now, I am empowering and educating other menstruators to make long lasting lifestyle changes and rule their reproductive health.
